Eric is the Clinical Programs Manager at Crestview Recovery. Eric has been with Crestview Recovery since 2018 after coming back to the Pacific Northwest from northern Arizona. Eric’s approach is based on his personal journey and professional experience working in addiction treatment.

Eric’s approach to group and individual work relies heavily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, experiential techniques and person centered concepts. Eric evaluates and treats each client that enters Crestview through an individual lens based on trauma history, family of origin, personal worldview and their specific goals for recovery.

Eric has fulfilled various roles in the addiction field including flex counselor, group facilitator and residential supervisor. Eric holds a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Level 2 (CADC II) in the State of Oregon. Eric believes every individual who enters Crestview Recovery deserves the opportunity to heal, and he is committed to helping facilitate this process with individuals at Crestview Recovery.

Merle Williamson, MD has served as Medical Director to Crestview Recovery since 2016. Dr. Williamson has a broad background in addiction medicine previously working in a staff physician capacity at Hazelden Treatment Center.

As Medical Director, Dr. Williamson oversees Crestview’s outpatient drug and alcohol treatment centers. In addition to providing patients with appropriate medical care, Dr. Williamson develops and implements policies and procedures, detox protocols and quality assurance.

Prior to working in the field of addiction medicine, Dr. Williamson specialized in anesthesiology for 25 years. His expertise and experience as Chair of Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and Chief of Anesthesia at Kaiser Permanente gives him a unique and important perspective in healing patients who are addicted to prescription drugs.

Dr. Williamson was awarded his medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University. He is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and Oregon Society of Addiction Medicine. He is a Diplomat at the American Board of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Gladish is a Board Certified Adult General Psychiatrist. She is originally from New Jersey but has called Portland home for the last 12 years. Prior to medical school, she completed her Master’s in Public Health in health education and promotion at Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in New Orleans. She attended medical school at the Flinders University of South Australia’s School of Medicine in Adelaide, South Australia. She undertook her training in psychiatry at Yale University, The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, the University Hospital, Zurich Switzerland, and Oregon Health and Science University.

She has worked in numerous psychiatric settings including emergency psychiatry, adult inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, and geriatric inpatient and outpatient psychiatry. In the Portland area, she has worked at Providence, Tuality, Cascadia, and has been on faculty as an Assistant Professor at OHSU in a joint position between OHSU and the Unity Center for Behavioral Health.

She has an interest in biological approaches to treating depression and other mental illnesses. She has pursued additional training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts.

Outside of work she enjoys surfing, hiking, road cycling, gardening and spending time with her husband and dogs.

Dr. Williams maintains accreditation in both Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He attended the University of Oregon for his undergraduate degree, followed by a Masters degree in Oceanography and then his Medical degree from the University of Hawaii. After practicing Internal Medicine for 10 years he shifted his focus to Addiction Medicine when he became the medical director for the Native American Rehabilitation Association in Portland, Oregon. After 7 years in that role, he became the medical director for Hazelden Springbrook for another 7 years. He was also responsible for the Healthcare Professionals Program at Hazelden. He has held positions in Oregon and Hawaii providing services as a physician, consultant and educator.

He reports that his commitment to the field of recovery stems directly from the commitment and compassion he was shown over 30 years ago.

I have lived in Oregon my entire life; edging from Gresham, to all the corners of Portland, and finally breached the great divide to the west side of the river in 2018. Professionally, I’ve navigated the mental health system in the Portland metro area for 17 years, with experience working, first as a licensed mental health therapist and then as a psychiatric provider. I grew up in Oregon, attending Portland State University for Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Psychology (2002), then earning a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology (2005). I achieved licensure as a therapist (LPC) in 2008 and then in 2013 began my nursing education, achieving my RN in 2014 and then board certification as an advanced practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in 2016. My philosophy is that physical wellness and mental wellness go hand in hand. This dynamic informs treatment planning as a complement to finding the appropriate medications to fit a patient’s needs. In the midst of emotional distress, a treatment focused on self care and maximizing daily functioning can affirm life balance and regain holistic health, assisted by therapy and when needed, medication. My work has led me through numerous levels of mental health care; outpatient (adult and children), inpatient medical as psychiatry liaison, inpatient psychiatry, emergency department, and correctional settings. This experience has shaped my practice across a wide span of demographics and degree of vulnerability.

Jayme Kempner, was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. She is active in recovery, and is the current Assistant Manager for Mountain View Recovery. She graduated from Southern Oregon University, in Ashland Oregon, with a bachelors of science degree in Biomedical Biology, and a minor in chemistry in 2012. Her favorite things to do in her free time include running outdoors, traveling, watching movies, and spending time with her family and her 2 young children. Her passion is to help others struggling with addiction, and she is grateful to be a part of an amazing team at Crestview Recovery.

Sage graduated from University of Nevada Reno with a degree in Psychology in 2017. Since then, she has passionately pursued a variety of careers such as Behavioral Counselor, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, and Geriatric Rehabilitation. Sage enjoys experiencing the outdoors with her husband and two senior dogs Panda and April. When not exploring she also enjoys cooking and getting creative with painting, drawing, and crochet.
Sage was born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah where she passionately pursued her volleyball career, received a scholarship for college, and played overseas in Denmark. She moved to Portland in 2022 and has been enjoying getting to know exactly what it means when people say “keep Portland weird.”
Sage hopes to continue to grow her knowledge in the counseling and therapy field so she can continue to provide the best therapeutic experience for people seeking to improve themselves or even just need someone to talk to. Sage is passionate about helping people pursue their goals and helping others realize their full potential.

Lauren Humphreys is the Mental Health IOP group counselor at Crestview Recovery. Previously, Lauren worked for the Discovery Mood and Anxiety Program with adolescents in residential and outpatient programs. Lauren received her undergraduate degree in psychology and mental health with a certificate in behavioral health from George Fox University. Lauren is pursuing her masters in clinical psychology from Palo Alto University and enjoys using her education and life experiences in a group setting. She is an avid volunteer with Clackamas County Fair and Rodeo and enjoys time with her husband and three children. Lauren’s passion is working within family systems to navigate healing through learning and understanding personal history to shape a more secure future. Lauren teaches healing through learning how to feel in a safe space. Lauren is an LGBTQ+Ally and leads an open group where people from all backgrounds and cultures have a safe space to heal.

Sandy was born and raised in the state of Michigan and lived there until moving to Chicago, IL in 2021. She enjoys traveling, camping, hiking, and exploring the beauty of nature with her husband and adult-aged children. She is also a photographer and lists waterfalls, mountains, ocean/lakes, and the night sky as her favorite photography subjects. This love of hiking and nature photography is what drew her to a life on the West Coast.
Sandy’s childhood experiences with parents who struggled with mental health illnesses and learning to overcome her own struggles with mental health, is what motivated her to pursue education and a career in counseling. Sandy completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2019 and has begun Master’s degree coursework in clinical mental health counseling. Sandy obtained her CADC 1 and worked as a substance use counselor in Chicago for 2 ½ years before relocating to Portland, OR at the end of 2023. She is passionate about providing counseling and support for women struggling with substance use, as she recognizes that women have unique and often overlooked and underserved mental health needs that negatively impacts their recovery journey. Sandy believes in every person’s ability to create positive change in their life and uses a client-centered approach to counseling. She considers her role to be a supporting one in helping each client achieve their personal goals for recovery and an improved quality of life.

Lori Wilson, CADC II

Lori has been in the addiction field since 1992, however, she was drawn to helping others in High School where she mentored her peers struggling with their own addictions. Having grown up in a home where addiction was prevalent, She readily used her own experiences to help others in similar situations. Shortly after High School, she began pursuing her passion in addiction studies and then working in the treatment field. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, families, women and those suffering from significant mental health diagnosis. Lori is particularly interested in working with women with trauma and addiction.

In an effort to balance her career and personal life, Lori is a published author of a series of crime novels and also plays guitar and is the vocalist for a classic rock band. In the summer you will likely find her near water, kayaking, rockhounding or just soaking up the summer vibe.

She enjoys spending time with her daughter, who brings a tremendous amount of joy and laughter into her life.

Jessica has a passion for helping people in the same way she was supported during her own struggle. She has worked in the field for four years and is focused on advancing in substance use and social work. Jessica understands firsthand the complexity of addiction and all of the potential consequences. She can recognize how substance use affects all areas of someone’s life and is driven to help guide the service user through their journey. Jessica is currently finishing her Bachelor’s in Social Work at Portland State University and finished her Graduate MSW program in May of 2023.

Jessica is a mother of two young sons; Jaxon is eight, and Ryker is six. She enjoys playing sports with them, going on hiking adventures, and hanging out at their favorite parks around Portland. Jessica was born in Everett, WA, raised in Washougal, WA, and moved to Portland in 2007.

Jessica’s dream is to complete her LCSW and work with women and mothers struggling with addiction issues, court systems, and family dynamics. She can relate and inspire this population with her own unique story and her focused higher education.

Dane is a primary counselor with the Men’s Residential Therapy Center. Dane
has spent the last decade advancing his counseling career in Southern
California, and is eager to bring this knowledge back to his hometown. Dane has
been a certified CADC-II for nine years, working at various types of rehabilitation
centers. Dane specializes in experiential therapy, psychodrama, and motivational
interviewing. He also has a passion for photography, which he has brought into
the recovery world. He shares his insight on the importance of reframing life
around health, self care, and connecting with nature.

Zachary VanStory, CADC I

Zach VanStory is a Counselor at Crestview Recovery’s Men’s Residential Treatment Center. Zach has pursued many careers outside of the role of SUD treatment including a long term career as an audio engineer for local Portland musicians. Zach was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan until the age of 16 when he relocated to Oregon. Growing up in Detroit influenced his creative mindset leading him to art forms like songwriting, graphic design, and even designing clothing. Zach is highly motivated in the addiction services field as he too had his own struggles with addiction. 2 years after getting sober on 9/8/18, Zach pursued schooling to become a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor in an accelerated program obtaining his CADC-I credentials in just under 11 months. Zach’s goal is to help people come to terms with their issues and realize that sobriety is so much more than simply not using drugs or alcohol. It’s a way of living that can repair damaged thought processes and relationships with the people who matter. The success of his clients is the most important aspect of his career and meeting each individual where they are at is the mission.

Adina Beth earned her AS in Addiction Studies and became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She continued her education and earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California (USC) which has given her the knowledge and skills to not only work with individuals struggling with mental illness, but also to collaborate with clinical staff on caseload management, care coordination, staff training and supervision, but also program implementation and operations including strategic planning, budgets, leadership, advocacy, and policy. She is experienced in the clinical assessing, diagnosing, and treating Addiction, Anxiety, Codependency, Depression, Dual-Diagnosis, Grief, Relationship issues, Trauma and PTSD. She works with individual’s, couples, and their families offering individual and group therapy using Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and Twelve-Step Facilitation modalities. She aims to provide psychoeducation, symptom management, coping, relationship, and social skills.

Adina Beth takes a holistic approach to all levels of her social work practice. Her lived experience has enhanced her ability to truly empathize with her clients, staff, and those in executive roles. She seeks to engage as equals, guiding others in developing and enhancing their natural capabilities and authenticity through self-discovery, self-esteem, resilience, and empowerment through mindfulness, meditation, spiritual practice, self-help recovery groups, and life experience. Adina Beth is a practicing yogini and meditator. She “practices what she preaches,” sharing her experience, strength, and hope. Bethany Hansen is a recovery yoga teacher with Crestview Recovery Services. She teaches yoga focusing on movement, meditation, and targeted breathwork. She is trained to teach trauma-informed yoga to people in recovery.

“I believe that yoga, including breathwork and meditation, is a subtle but powerfully supportive tool which can aid anyone in recovery. Coming out of addiction, people are often not connected to their bodies or their thoughts. Yoga helps to bring clients to the present moment, focusing inward and moving their bodies while learning non-judgement of self and others.”

Pat Jenkins is a Group Counselor with Crestview Recovery Services. She facilitates the weekly Art Therapy Group. She is an artist and licensed Art Therapist (ART-T) with the state of Oregon.

Lio is a Flex Counselor at Crestview Recovery.
He is passionate about recovery and is studying to become an LMHC. In his personal search for recovery and peace, Lio trained as a meditation and Hatha Yoga instructor. He tries to bring presence and balance to his clients, coworkers, and life. Lio is passionate about recovery and the life changing effect that love and support can have on a person’s life. He has studied non violent communication and trauma informed recovery and hopes to broaden his skillset and knowledge as a team member here at Crestview Recovery. Finding solutions to minimize, cope with, and eliminate suffering has become his life’s purpose. Through service to others he believes we can all heal together.

Lio and his wife Tahlia just moved to Portland from Juneau, Alaska. They have two fur babies, a Scottish kilt named Sweet Beef and her brother Beary, who is a Scottish Straight. He and Tahlia play tons of board games, keep restaurant journals, and swim as often as possible.

Bruce facilitates a sexual health group for the men’s treatment program, as well as a spirituality group for individuals in residential treatment. Bruce draws upon his doctorates in psychology, education, and his master’s in addiction studies, as well as spiritual psychology, when helping clients.

Jennifer Stratton, LPC

Jennifer Stratton serves as a counselor at Crestview Recovery. She is the co-creator of Crestview’s innovative Family Program. Her extensive experience and education provides a strong foundation to support Crestview Recovery clients and their families in healing.

Jennifer works from a strength-based approach with families that focuses on neurobiology of addiction and relationship dynamics. Her practice in facilitating groups demonstrates how family members can learn about effective communication and barriers to self-care, shame, and stigma.

Jennifer also runs Crestview’s Mindful Art Therapy and Mindfulness groups. She uses evidence-based methods, including Kristin Neff’s work on self-compassion.

“I find that younger people especially respond to mindfulness exercises and art therapy. We can engage different parts of the brain. With opioid addicts, the ability to focus has usually been greatly impaired for some time. Art processes effectively sustain focus and engage clients in the present moment.”

Jennifer earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois and a Master’s in Counseling from National Louis University, she continued her post-grad training with a Certification in Mindful Self-Compassion from Kristin Neff, PhD and studied the Hakomi Method of mindfulness somatic psychotherapy in Portland. Jennifer completed her post-grad internship at Hazelden Betty Ford.

Lynn Emmons LCSW, RN, CADC I

Lynn serves as the Co-Facilitator for Crestview Recovery’s first-ever Family Workshop. She was also the co-creator of the three-day innovative program that helps reconnect family members and clients.

“Crestview provides the much-needed family support in the recovery and chemical dependency world. Creating and facilitating the workshop at Crestview fuels and guides my passion.”

Lynn brings extensive experience to the recovery community She has worked in a variety of areas, from counselor, case manager and manager of nursing services. She previously collaborated as primary counselor of family therapy groups at Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Lynn has worked with children, adolescents, adults and families in mental health/addictions hospital, residential and outpatient settings. Her nursing background provides an additional level of knowledge on which clients can rely upon.

With 30 years’ experience as an addictions nurse, social worker and alcohol and drug counselor, Lynn holds her Master’s in Social Work from Portland State University in 2012 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Arizona State University.

Outside of the Crestview Family Workshop, Lynn has her own private practice in Portland.

Glenn is the Program Manager at Crestview Recovery and has been with them since the beginning of 2023. He was actually a client enrolled in services with Crestview. So really he’s been a part of all this since 2021. The fact that he was a client allows Glenn to meet clients where they are at, also allows the clients to identify with him. He started as a Residential Behavioral Health Technician working directly with our clients and learned the program from the ground up.

He now incorporates his background and experience in management and logistics, with his drive to helping others, and walk alongside them in their own road to recovery.
Glenn, being a former client and also in recovery himself, brings the understanding, compassion and empathy to his work that his experience with addiction has taught him. He approaches life with a “Can do” personality and a dedication to supporting those in need of recovery.

Ryan Opsahl

Ryan Opsahl is the Regional Director of Clinical Outreach and oversees all Community Outreach for both our Crestview location, in Portland, OR and our Bayview location in Tacoma, WA. Ryan manages and maintains a wide variety of marketing processes and is responsible for developing and maintaining referral sources on a national level, while also generating referrals from clinicians and other sources. Ryan has worked in the addiction treatment field since 2010 and is truly passionate about helping guide individuals down a path to successful long term recovery. He uses his own experience as a recovering alcoholic/addict to help referral sources gain access to any helpful resources that will assist their clients in achieving growth, change, and wholeness.

Ivana Jungic CADC I, PRC, CRM

Born in former Yugoslavia, Ivana came to the United States as a refugee of the Yugoslav Wars. As a child of war, Ivana experienced first-hand the horrors, trauma and PTSD. Ivana’s personal experiences have imbued a rare level of compassion and understanding. She recognizes the importance of treating not only the symptoms of addiction, but simultaneously providing supportive strategies that factor in the whole person, as a unique individual, including life experiences, family background and any related trauma or personal setbacks.

Ivana is fluent in English, Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian. She holds an Associates Degree and is a licensed CADC I, PRC and CRM. She is passionate about work, health & fitness and helping others find their way.

Her passion for helping people and her own personal journey of addiction and recovery brought her to work in the treatment field. Ivana completed the Alcohol and Drug counseling program at Portland Community College while managing operations and mentoring young women in recovery at The 4th Dimension Recovery Center.

While working as a CADC Ivana was given an opportunity to become a member of Crestview’s Outreach team. Today Ivana networks and builds relationships with other amazing providers. She absolutely loves and enjoys how she gets to contribute today.

Garrett Tardif

As the Director of Admissions for Crestview Recovery, Garrett Tardif works alongside the clinical, intake, and medical teams. He is one of the first voices and faces to meet incoming clients. Garrett ensures that each client has a smooth transition from their initial phone call to getting settled in the facility. He is also a
resource for clients to utilize throughout their stay and post discharge. Garrett also works with billing and insurance companies to determine initial verifications and assist families in navigating the often-challenging financial details.

Garrett has been working in the recovery field since 2014, and has worked at Crestview Recovery since it opened in 2016. His highly-developed people skills help clients feel at ease the moment they step through the doors at Crestview Recovery.

Garrett is originally from Connecticut, and he enjoys playing golf in his free time.

Tuni joined the Crestview team in 2018. Through her own personal journey in recovery, Tuni has found her true passion lies in helping others on their road to recovery. She is often the first point of contact for addicts and family members seeking treatment and has the unique to provide comfort in a time of crisis.

Ella Smith, CADCI, QMHAI

Ella conducts bio-psycho-social evaluations at Crestview. As a native Russian, her education received in Moscow includes arts and linguistics: she holds BA in Choreography and MA in Musical Theater, Russian for Foreigners, and Commercial Interpreting. Ella moved to Portland in 1997 and found herself in a court/medical interpreter’s position. She obtained extensive legal training from Oregon Judicial Department and completed numerous psychology and sociology college courses. In 2010 she got certified as CADC I and is currently working toward CADC III. Ella has over 17 years of experience as an evaluator and counselor in the Domestic Violence Intervention, DUII, and A&D treatment programs, including IOP. Ella’s eclectic approach allows the use of various theories and modalities. Her philosophy as a counselor is in Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and a combination of personal accountability and empathy. Playing competitive tennis and being an accomplished pianist helps Ella to maintain a healthy balance in life.
